AliasesJenny House
Brief HistoryJenny House, which has been relocated over the years, was named for its initial sponsor, the Jenny Craig weight loss organisation. The Jenny House moved to its current location in Kewdale in 1996 and is now (2010) known as Penny Jones House.

In 2002 funding was provided through the Commonwealth/State funded Supported Accommodation Assistance Programme (SAAP). From 2009, funding continues to be provided through the National Affordable Housing Agreement (NAHA). [For notes on this program see the section on NAHA/SAAP at the beginning of Signposts].

In its service agreement with the Department in 2002 Jenny House was described as targeting young women 16-25 (with or without children) who are in need of safe, supported, affordable, transitional accommodation. The program allows the young women to live in a semi-independent environment, but with 24 hour on call support by professional staff. The service actively works to move young women to independent accommodation within 12 months. (Service Agreement with the Department for Child Protection).

Parkerville Children’s Home has its own entry in Signposts, and this should be consulted as it gives more information about the approach taken.
RecordsCase records for young people placed by the Department may reside with the Department for Child Protection.
Parkerville Children’s Home may also hold records.
